491 Gallery Films: 'Squatters'

Colette Crespin interviews the residents of Gallery 491 about their way of life and how they have improved the property by cleaning it up and filling it with creativity.

Squatters has a nice easy style about it which fits in with the portrayal of the contributors living at Gallery 491. Colette Crespin made this film as part of her course at Bournemouth Media School.

Cracked Films.

Cracked Films is an international collective of digital filmmakers pooling their resources and talents to create a diverse body of work. Its goals are firmly placed in exploring and exploiting the new forms of production, distribution and exhibition made possible through advances in technology and mass communications.

We aim to find an audience based on word of mouth recommendations, free distribution and exhibition via digital formats and underground screenings.

Cracked Films has been working in conjunction with the 491 Gallery in a variety of capacities since mid 2006. Originally using the space to screen up and coming independent work in a creative and relaxed environment, Cracked Films then started using the space and its surroundings as locations for a multitude of productions. Since then a number of other like minded film makers have begun using the 491 Gallery as a creative location for short films, music videos and documentary.

'MONITORING THE STATIC'

This film was made out of the depths of poverty and the want to make a film.

The subject of the film is the static and noise that we fill our lives with.

The noise/static coming from our TVs, radios, mobile phones, eletronic pylons, microwave ovens etc etc is getting louder and louder.

The video follows this progession to its inevitable conclusion of death/deaf and metamorphosis.
