New composting area built in the 491 Gallery garden.
29th June 2008.

Something long planned and talked about has again become a reality here at 491:
A composting area has been constructed in the 491 Gallery gardens.

A new large composting area has been built in the 491 Gallery gardens by volunteer & community member Steve Capper.

Being keen gardeners, we love compost! And we have needed lots of the stuff to regenerate the soil here to be able to grow plants! But we never had the space we wanted to cope with our compostable waste output, until now that is! Steve Capper, a community member, rectified the problem in one afternoon. Using materials paid for by 491 Gallery donations the new compost area was built.
The composter has two areas allowing for an annual turnover of the compost & wired breathing holes to keep pests out. Steve made the job look easy & was finished in 3 hours!

Volunteer work taken on kindly by Steve, Sancha & sjb.
