The 2nd Leytonstone Arts Trail

This year's Arts Trail is 3 weeks long, from 27th June to 19th July. It features over 30 events including exhibitions, arts and crafts fairs, talks and workshops. With several group shows we are proud to present the work of over 100 artists and designers.

In total there are 31 events spread across 21 locations, most of which have disabled access. Full details are available on our venues page. Trail maps can be picked up from Leytonstone and Harrow Green Libraries, 491 Gallery and participating venues or downloaded.

About The Arts Trail

Aims and Vision: Leytonstone Arts Trail is coordinated by a non-profit voluntary organisation which is predominantly artist-led. We have two main aims:

To provide Leytonstone's local artists with a platform to exhibit.
Providing an incentive for local artists to organise events in Leytonstone to showcase their work.
There is also the opportunity to link up with other creative practitioners participating in the Trail.

To provide the residents of Leytonstone with an annual visual Arts festival.

Enriching the area for local residents and businesses by supporting artists to put on exhibitions, events and workshops in the local area, and by publicising these events - thus also promoting Leytonstone as a destination.
We aim to create an inflow of creative practitioners and art goers from across London, providing wider networking opportunities for artists in Leytonstone while also enriching the visual culture of the area and promoting a sense of local identity.

Leytonstone Arts Trail is run by a group of approximately ten volunteers. We are funded through the registration fee of £15 per participant, supporters' contributions (which cover the registration fees of participants on low income), and a grant of £2000 from the Waltham Forest One Community Pot for festivals.

Woolworths

Leytonstone Arts Trail organisers have secured access from Waltham Forest council to the Leytonstone ex-Woolworths retail unit for the duration of the Arts Trail 2009. This operates on the basis that we will provide the public with an art exhibition, organised with the same aims as the Trail as a whole. For more information see Pick 'n' Mix.
